THE CONTRIBUTION OF THE INFORMAL SECTOR TO GDP HITS A NEW HIGH

OWNER OF RECKLING BLOG

THE INFORMAL SECTOR CONTRIBUTED A WHOPPING 73 BILLION GHC TO THE ECONOMY IN GHANA. THIS IS ACCORDING TO THE BUSINESS&FINANCIAL TIMES GHANA ONLINE ( https://thebftonline.com/ ). THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD SEE TO IT THAT IT COULD WIDEN THE TAX NET. THIS IS BY INCLUDING MORE OF THE INFORMAL SECTOR INTO REVENUE COLLECTION.  Continue reading “THE CONTRIBUTION OF THE INFORMAL SECTOR TO GDP HITS A NEW HIGH”

GOVERNMENT OF GHANA AND THE CREATION OF JOBS

SINCE WEEKS THERE ARE DISCUSSIONS IN THE MEDIA WHETHER THE GOVERNMENT CREATES JOBS AS THE GOVERNING PARTY HAS PROMISED IN ITS ELECTION MANIFESTO OR NOT. AS USUAL, THE GOVERNMENT SAYS IT IS ON THE RIGHT PATH, AND THE OPPOSITION CLAIMS THAT IT HAS NOT CREATED ENOUGH JOBS, AND IT WILL NEVER. IT IS NECESSARY TO TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT THE BACKGROUND OF THE JOB CREATION IN GHANA. Continue reading “GOVERNMENT OF GHANA AND THE CREATION OF JOBS”

BORIS JOHNSON IN GHANA

THE BRITISH FOREIGN SECRETARY, BORIS JOHNSON, IS IN GHANA, AND – ACCORDING TO SOME GHANAIAN NEWSPAPERS – HE HINTED AT TRADE DEALS WITH GHANA. SHOULDN’T WE BE PROUD THAT THE FOREIGN SECRETARY (OR MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS IN OTHER COUNTRIES) OF SUCH AN IMPORTANT COUNTRY LIKE THE UNITED KINGDOM WANTS TO INITIATE TRADE DEALS WITH SUCH A SMALL AFRICAN COUNTRY? BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENTS – NOT BETWEEN THE YEARS

IT IS RATHER DIFFICULT TO WRITE SOMETHING ABOUT THE ECONOMICAL AND POLITICAL SITUATION IN GHANA AT THE MOMENT. EVERYBODY – AND THAT INCLUDES ME – IS WAITING WHAT WILL HAPPEN, AND HOW MANY OF THEIR CAMPAIGN PROMISES THE NEW GOVERNMENT WILL FULFILL IN ITS (FIRST?) TERM.
AS I AM WAITING, HERE ARE SOME SUGGESTIONS ABOUT WHAT ACCORDING TO MY OPINION WOULD BE BENEFICIARY FOR THIS COUNTRY: Continue reading “BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENTS – NOT BETWEEN THE YEARS”

FINANCE & INVESTMENT TIP NO. 4

WITH A HUMBLE APOLOGY FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO PUBLISH A FINANCE & INVESTMENT TIP LAST WEEK, HERE MY TIP NO. 4:

NO MATTER WHAT INVESTMENT PROFILE YOU HAVE – WHETHER CONSERVATIVE OR PROGRESSIVE -, IT IS ADVISABLE TO PUT ABOUT 5% OF YOUR INVESTMENT IN GOLD, AS A SAFE HAVEN SO-TO-SAY.

WHETHER YOU BUY GOLD BARS OR GOLD COINS LIKE THE SOUTH AFRICAN KRUGER RAND, DOES NOT PLAY ANY ROLE – THE VALUE IS ALWAYS THE SAME. IN SOME COUNTRIES, YOU CAN EVEN BUY GOLD CERTIFICATES. BUT ANOTHER TIP IN THIS CONNECTION: IF YOU BUY GOLD, DON-T KEEP IT AT HOME, UNLESS YOU HAVE A SAFE OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT IN YOUR HOME. MANY BANKS ALSO OFFER SAFES TO RENT WHERE YOU CAN KEEP YOUR VALUABLES.
